I can see lots of late nights whilst I keep all these plates spinning!! Although, having said that, I do remember being at home with my eldest daughter in the years before I started working for myself, or doing any paid work at all, and I recal the term and holiday times all merged into one at that time and I definately prefer being self employed and busy than feeling like the world is going on without me as I did in those days! I also think it is good for my children to have an understanding of what has to happen for me to earn money for us all to enjoy, what our parents actually did at work used to be a mystery, my children have hands on experience of it, and that has got to be of use?...time will tell

Honestly, one day would be nice to work and enjoy some of the money instead of always having 'life' stuff to spend it on!!

In addition to that, it could be 28 days before the one I have ordered is delivered...all good fun, cooking on a hob only for a month!! I do steal myself at this point to remember that I am still lucky to be able to do that!

moan over!

Coupled with running problems at work...I sometimes think I must be mad to pursue a work life that enables me to be at home with my children as well as generate income, but onwards I go, certain that it is best to be present, 'in house' should my children need me, which they often do, of course. Another 16 hour day comes to a close!!!

I am a busy mum of 2 children, and I am curious to see if there are others out there that I can share my stress and at the same time, elation with?

I have always hated the term working mum, because put simply if you have young children living with you which you care for, feed, clothe and love...then you are already a working mum!

The difference is that sadly that type of work is not yet PAID!

Even worse is the other phrase that is banded about these days... "I am not a full time mum, I work as well", I hate that even more...surely if all the above is true, then we are fully fledged, 100% full time mums and also money generating members of the economy, are we not!?

Why should one detract from the other or vice versa?

A contradiction some might think having decided to have working mum in the title of my blog

I co run a thriving business which demands much of my time and energy, but I also strive on a very personal level to provide a loving, educational and safe environment for my children...this too can be very draining, but also very rewarding

I consider my children to be benefiting from my life experience and I think it is very important to show them that in life you can do what ever you dream about doing, as long as you are prepared to put the work in

Could it be that there are many others like me, single mums that do not rely on the state run schemes that keep most of us sedate, have mortgages and almost full responsability for their childrens welfare, education and financing of their existance....

 Comments
